November 18th: Wilderness Wanderings (Exodus 14, 16-17)

 Hello Confirmands!

Tonight we are continuing Moses and the Israelites' story. You have a couple of options to complete confirmation at home.

For at home confirmation we'd like a parent or mentor to participate with you.

Thanks, everyone!

Oh, and if you want extra fun and entertainment, you could watch "The Prince of Egypt" on Netflix or Prime if you haven't already--it's all about the story of Moses!

November 11th: Mentor Night

It's Mentor Night!

This week we are NOT meeting at church, but are wanting your confirmand and their mentor to meet in some way that best suits you! It could be over the phone, facetime, zoom, or safely in person.

At the bare minimum, go through the following discussion, but as always we encourage you to go "above and beyond"--spend time together, have lunch or dinner together (safely), watch/support the mentee in athletic or other extra curricular events, etc.

Here's the discussion guide for this week; when you are done, send us some verification that you participated in an email.

Discussion Guide:

  • Share your highs (joys, celebrations, things that made you happy) and lows (sorrows, disappointments, things that made you sad/frustrated/worried)  from the last month or days.
  • Open your Bibles to Psalm 95:1-7 and read it.
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.
  • What are some things that stuck out to you in this verse? Make sure both mentor and mentee share thoughts.
  • What reminders does this Bible passage give us? (here are some ideas to get you started: praise, thankfulness, belonging, promises, worship)
  • It can be easy to lose sight of and take for granted all we are blessed with, especially when we've seen so much strife this year. Name three things that you are thankful for.
  • What are ways we can show God our thanks and praise?
  • Pray for each other.  Each of you pray a short prayer for the other. You can go off the cuff, or use this format: Dear God, thank you for [name]. I give thanks for the joys in their life, including [highs]. I ask you to be with them, especially as they are dealing with [lows]. Please be with [name] tonight and the week to come, and bless them in your name. Amen.

Tonight we are talking about good ol' Moses. You have a couple of options to complete confirmation at home.

For at home confirmation we'd like a parent or mentor to participate with you.

Thanks, everyone!
